5. My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.6. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defense; I shall not be moved.7. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Psalm 62:5-7. The psalmist has a calm confidence in only God. Many things may seem to comfort or protect us, but God alone is in control. Nothing can happen to us and surprise God Almighty. Therefore the psalmist speaks to his soul to wait silently for God alone. Who has knowledge or power like Him. Who can you trust more than Him. If you shall stand with one foot on Christ and the other on the world, you shall sink into the world. The psalmist assured himself, that there was no one greater than God. He states that God is the solid foundation of his salvation, the Rock on which he stands. The psalmist trusts no one but God, for his salvation, for the divine favor received from God, for his foundation in all things spiritual and physical, for his strength to follow God's ways, his place of refuge was in God. Who can protect the creation more than the Creator? The psalmist does not travel many paths. His expectation is only in God. He will not move off the proper way. Submitted to all things of God. The psalmist is safe and secure, and seeks to be pleasing to God above all others. We also can enjoy these comforts when our hearts are committed to Christ. Amen.
