26. And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
27. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
28. For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Matthew 26:26-28.
Passover created a nation from a multitude of slaves freed from Egypt. Christ's supper with his disciples creates a people united in Christ who remember His sacrifice and suffering for their sin. We are freed from Satan.
The Bread reminds us how Christ was broken for us. When we drink the cup, we are reminded how Christ's life was poured out on the Cross.
Our redemption, paid by Christ, reconciled sinners to God.
As the old covenant was sealed in blood, Christ sealed the New Covenant in His sinless blood. This New Covenant is confirmed with the life of God in the flesh.
We see Christ gave everything. He held back nothing. So Christ must be everything to us, or He is nothing to us.
God does not reward half measures.
You must be all in, or you are out. Amen.
