1. Wisdom hath building her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:2. She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table. 3. She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,4. Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,5. Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled. Proverb 9:1-5 Solomon's Proverb declares wisdom's feast and folly's funeral. Wisdom is portrayed as a woman with many talents with benefits for all who listen and obey. She has a large house, she has set it on seven pillars. These can be seen as the seven gifts of the Spirit. The slaughter can be seen as Christ's sacrifice. The bread and wine picture the Lord's supper. Wisdom has a large house set on a foundation of God. She calls out to the simple to turn in and learn. This is the Gospel message. Wisdom invites all, but the simple must respond and come to the feast. This is for all who are spiritually hungry. All who lack understanding, those needing a pure heart, courage to live for Christ, the feeble one's easily drawn away from the good path. Forty years, Christ has been working on me. Many times, I have failed. Spurgeon said he was a great sinner, but Christ is a bigger Savior. We have so much to learn and such few days to learn. The wise will listen to Wisdom and get understanding and will be profitable to the kingdom of our dear Lord. Be still, can you hear Wisdom calling, Come learn from Christ and live. Amen.
