I really wish we could somehow annex Canada and make them the 51st state. This would bring with it many benefits, since Canada would be bigger than California. With its larger population, the state of Canada could then bully California the same way that California currently bullies the rest of the states. In particular, the state of Canada would have enough power in congress to pass poutine standards, which inferior states like Iowa would then be subject to. Canada also has a lot of farmland, and they could easily rip away Iowa’s bragging rights as a top agricultural state. Since Canadians have better taste in food, the quality of agricultural products like beef, pork, and corn would improve greatly, because the tasteless Iowans would almost immediately lose their power in the agriculture industry. With their influence over big agriculture companies gone, the ignorant Iowans would no longer be able to force the rest of the country to eat their crappy, factory made food.Iowans are always more concerned with quantity than quality, and the universities here most likely waste millions, if not billions of dollars on research that makes food taste worse. I miss the days when chicken still tasted like chicken, but a bunch of bland Iowans probably had a role in whatever research was necessary to make chickens grow bigger and faster, while draining every bit of flavor from the meat. Iowans can’t taste food, and they have an innate hatred for anything with flavor, so it is highly likely that at least some of this research was a product of the Universities in Iowa. I would gladly accept Canada as the 51st state, if it would mean stripping Iowa of all influence over the U.S. food supply.
