Deutsche Welle (DW) – NATO’s State Media in Europe
💰 Funding:
• Receives €390M annually from the German government, with direct input from the German Foreign Office.
• Funded by USAID and NED for “media training” in Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Africa.
• Partnered with the European Endowment for Democracy (EED), an EU version of NED that finances regime change ops.
• Received an undisclosed amount from the U.S. State Department for “anti-disinformation programs” in Ukraine and Georgia.
What they do:
Deutsche Welle (DW) pretends to be an independent German news outlet, but in reality, it serves as NATO’s media wing in Europe. It systematically pushes anti-Russian, anti-Chinese, and pro-Western narratives, while covering up NATO war crimes.
Major Exposures:
1. Promoting NATO Expansion and Smearing Neutral Countries
• Consistently attacks any European government that refuses to fully align with NATO.
• In 2022, ran multiple stories accusing Serbia’s neutrality of being “Russian influence,” despite Serbia’s policy of non-alignment.
• In 2023, ran an exposé on Hungary’s Viktor Orbán, claiming his opposition to NATO expansion was a “threat to democracy.”
2. Whitewashing Ukraine’s Neo-Nazi Problem
• In 2022, released a documentary attempting to “debunk” claims that Ukraine’s military has a neo-Nazi problem.
• In the documentary, DW called concerns about the Azov Battalion’s Nazi links “Russian disinformation,” even though Azov fighters wear SS insignia and use Nazi slogans.
• During Ukraine’s Independence Day parade in 2023, completely ignored the fact that Ukrainian soldiers were marching with patches featuring Nazi symbols.
3. Running Cover for NATO’s War Crimes
• DW refuses to critically report on NATO’s destruction of Libya, Serbia, or Syria.
• In 2011, justified NATO’s bombing of Libya as a “humanitarian intervention”—ignoring how it left Libya in chaos.
• Called NATO’s 1999 bombing of Serbia “necessary to stop ethnic violence” while ignoring the illegal use of depleted uranium bombs that caused a surge in cancer rates.
4. Role in Georgia’s 2023 Anti-Government Protests
• Ran continuous coverage supporting anti-government protests in Georgia, portraying them as “pro-democracy.”
• Leaked documents revealed that DW coordinated its coverage with USAID-funded NGOs working to weaken Georgia’s government.
• Framed the protests as “grassroots,” despite clear evidence of U.S. influence.
5. “Anti-Disinformation” Projects – A Cover for Western Censorship
• Worksed closely with Facebook and Twitter to deplatform alternative media.
• In 2022, DW was part of an EU-backed “fact-checking” initiative that labeled alternative reporting on Ukraine as “Russian propaganda.”
• Helped push for the censorship of RT and Sputnik across Europe.
