1. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven whose sin is covered.
2. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
Psalm 32:1-2.
The psalmist declares how happy a person is and their children when sin is covered. This means sin has been discovered, and the penalty has been put aside because the payment has been made in full.
This is powerful because it means that it can never be brought up as an accusation ever again because the judgment has been forgiven. This is the grace shown to us by Christ at the Cross.
This happiness, this blessedness, is extended to believers to whom the Lord does not keep a running account of our sins, as a bookkeeper would of a debt, because He sees them forgiven pardoned paid in full. It can not be bought or bargained for or earned by mankind. It is strictly a gift of God Almighty. It is God's grace.
Here, the forgiven has come clean to God about their sin. There is no guile, meaning deceit. Being honest with God about sin is the way to pardon and God's forgiveness. Because our God is pure, holy, and full of mercy.
The psalmist sings in Psalm 33 and 35, how the Lord looks on those who reverence Him and who hope is in His mercy. He shall deliver their soul from death. They shall be joyful in the Lord and will rejoice in His salvation. Amen.
