37. For their heart was not right with him, neither were they steadfast in his covenant. 38. But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.39. For he remembered that they were but flesh: a wind that passeth away and cometh not again.Psalm 78:37:39 The psalmist recalls those in the dessert who had escaped the persecution of Egypt. Having seen all the miracles and power of the Almighty. Turned their back on the God of their salvation. The wage of sin is death. Yet God turned away His anger. Who is able to stand before God's wrath. Since God created man, He knows all the weaknesses, and there is nothing we do that will surprise Him. In all His power in creation, God remembers how frail we are and how quickly we vanish from this earth. This, in our time, is the mercy and grace of Christ the Son of the Living God. Never has anyone been turned away that put their trust in Christ Jesus. Amen.
