2. And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.3. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matthew 8:2-3 In the last 20 years 16 million people have been cured of Leprosy. In Christ's time it was a death sentence, sometimes taking up to 30 years to end a life. This in today's verse is a picture of sin. If not dealt with it will in time bring death and destruction to the soul. The leper first worshipped Christ as God, very few in Israel had this insight. He came expecting, in Christ's message on the mountain, He said ask and you will receive. The leper, asked and received. Curing a leper was like raising someone from death. Christ showed His power over sickness and death. But also reveals He is the only cure for sin. When Christ cleansed his leprosy, He removed the stain of sin. Christ is this very day, Healer, Redeemer, a God with us, not a God far away. Amen.
