10. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
11. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.
Matthew 2:9-10
All through Matthew's gospel, he reveals how Christ fulfilled the prophesies of the Old Testament.
Micah 5 speaks of a ruler that shall come out of Bethlehem and rule over Israel. This is fulfilled in Revelation. Bethlehem means house of bread, and Christ is the Bread of Life.
Why would 3 men travel from the east to worship a child. They were led by a star, they were prepared to meet someone great. Bringing gold a gift for a king, frankincense a fragrant resin used in temple worship, acknowledged the baby Christ as God, and myrrh a fragrant spice, more costly than gold used in preparing a body for burial.
Without divine knowledge, how could these men give costly gifts that touch Christ's life as God, priest, and sacrifice. This is the mystery in the Bible. The Old Testament Christ is coming. The New Testament Christ is here. He will be with you in 2025. Amen.
