1. The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which much shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
2. Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
3. Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
Revelation 1:1-3
The word revelation means unveiling or revealing. The book is of Jesus Christ revealing Himself. The book shows us the antichrist and God's judgment.
If you read the book and miss Jesus, you have missed the purpose of the book.
God has revealed Christ to His servants. The book will not make any sense to those who will not submit to Christ.
This book reveals the final outcome of the 65 books that preceed it.
That the things revealed in the book are coming shortly does not mean soon. It means in Greek suddenly. When the event comes, it will come suddenly, so preparation is needed before it takes place.
He sent His angel to John to signified, the angel sign-ified this message to John. It is a book that communicates in signs.
It is the only book that guarantees a blessing for the individual reading or a group of believers hearing and keeping the words of the book. The Great Shepherd of our souls would not end His word with a book we can not understand. He has given us a book where all who are submitted to Him will understand what is being revealed because it will change the way we live and honor Christ. Amen.
