The men in my kitchen…
I come from an artistic family, so I grew up having a great appreciation for art (the real one, not the crap they now call ‘art’). My kitchen looks more like a museum than a kitchen; the walls are adorned with several portraits of men from different centuries.
‘My men’ have kept me company for the last 15 years. They have witnessed the daily eating habits with my kids, the dinner gatherings with family and the occasional party with friends. They have seen me cook, laugh, talk, dance and cry. Always there for me, like watchful guardians.
They remind me of a time when men were men; strong, determined, imposing, cultured, righteous gentlemen. Likewise, a time when women were women; graceful, gentle, respectable, and virtuous.
How much things have changed! Where are these men? Where are those women?
Nothing has hurt society more, than the insidious ideology of feminism. Society breaks down, when women give up their role as the nurturers, the moral upholders, the intuitive guiders, the patient pedagogues, the creators of beauty, the empathy crusaders and the solid pillars that keep the family together.
If we get lost, society is lost, because men can no longer function within their own manhood.
We are the framework that allows men to be what they need to be. We are the roots that keep them grounded, the intuition that warns them of danger, the love that heals them, the beauty that inspires them and the passion that will make them fight and die for us.
Unfortunately, women confused having equal rights with being equal to men, they confused being able to work like men with behaving like men, and they traded the privilege and freedom of working for the family, for the enslavement of working for a boss.
We think we are empowered because we now hold leading positions in the world scene. We feel accomplished because we have a seat at the political and financial table. But meanwhile our children seat alone at the dining table, cared for by strangers from far away lands.
Do I believe women should have the right and the possibility to choose their own path? Of course I do! But that doesn’t mean we are choosing right, that doesn’t mean we are not giving up our most important role and it doesn’t mean we are not trading our vital contributions to society, for an ego ride, a false sense of accomplishment and an exhausting existence of juggling far too many balls and always biting more than we can chew.
Well guess what, women are choking and the children are suffering and the marriages are breaking and society is falling apart.
And you will wonder why I’m blaming women for all of this? Because that’s how incredibly important we are.
We are the sun that keeps the universe together, the oxygen that keeps society alive and the LOVE that makes it all worth while.
Men will always be men, but they can only be good men when there are good women, they can only be good fathers when there are good mothers and they can only be good partners when women stand in their place; not acting and behaving like men, but standing in all our glorious, virtuous, spiritual, caring, emotional and sacred femininity.
Our power lies NOT in behaving like men, but in being the contrasting force that allows them to be men, whilst we radiate our magnificent female energy that holds everything in place.
The Yin was not created to act like, or replace, the Yang and vice versa. It’s only in perfect balance and symbiosis, that society can function and thrive. But it is us, with the Yin power, that must get back on track and guide this process, until we do, society will continue to fall apart. I pray that women will find their way before it’s too late.
In the meantime, I will continue to try and inspire them with my tough, but loving words, written from my kitchen table under the attentive glance of the gentlemen that continue to inspire me to wish for a society were men are men and women are women.
