6. And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. 7. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: 8. But the tongue can no man tame; it is unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the simultude of God.Hebrews 3:6-9 The author reveals the wickedness of the tongue. Saying a large ship is turned by a small rudder. And the tongue is a small member of the body, full of wickedness. Most sins are conveyed by speech. Almost all animals can be tamed by men. But the tongue can only be controlled by the Holy Ghost. It just takes a spark to set a forest into a blaze. Yet the tongue has done more damage in just a few words. The tongue has the shape of a sword and does great injuries. Praising God in one breath and cursing men in the next, who are created in God's image. The author pleads that this should not be. This is God's word on the matter. Psalm 50:23, Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God. Amen, let it be so.
