2. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.4. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.5. The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.6. In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.Psalm 18:3-6 The psalmist has said in his song that the Lord is his strong foundation. His strength, in whom he trusted completely. His shield, his salvation, and his place of safety. The psalmist knew the Lord and was confident that the Lord's strength was greater than his weakness. The psalmist describes two threats, death, and the ungodly. These were a great bother to him. So in his distress he cried out to the Lord God of his praise. And the Lord heard him, and delivered him. The psalmist cried to God for deliverance and set God in motion. A deliverance of a single soul seems small. But if that soul has prayed, it is no small thing now, for God's name is now involved. Amen.
