NEW, FUN, EXCITING AND ADVENTUROUS Far too many Christians have trouble remaining faithful in simple, day-to-day things. They try a NEW job until the NEW wears off; then they look for a another NEW job. They try a NEW vehicle until the NEW wears off; then they go into debt for another NEW one. They buy NEW clothes just to have something NEW, and they look for a NEW church, a NEW Bible, a NEW hymnal with NEW contemporary hymns, and some are even looking for a NEW spouse. This whole concept of new is unscriptural, unstable and very dangerous. The new that the word of God teaches is the INWARD newness that every believer should be experiencing on a daily basis. II Corinthians 4:16 says, “. . . though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.” People who keep looking for OUTWARD newness are usually the people who are failing to find INNER newness due to their own pride and rebellion. The world often calls such people “visionaries,” but the word of God calls them wandering stars, ravens, fugitives and vagabonds (Jude 13; Gen. 4:12; 8:7). God is a God of established ORDER, and all of God's institutions are holy and right, needing no renewal or improvement. Because of this, we are told in Jeremiah 6:16 to “Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls . . .” But unregenerate and unrenewed man says, “We will not walk therein.” (Jer. 6:16) In spite of Solomon’s firm warning from Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 (no new thing under the sun), man wants to renew everything but himself, and that’s why most people never find true joy, peace and fulfillment. If you want something new and exciting, stop focusing on people, places and things and start focusing on your own heart and life. What God might or might not be doing someplace else doesn't concern you. What He wants to do in your own personal life concerns you totally. Life is not an amusement park. There's work to be done, and you'll never get yours done until you learn to get your eyes off man and start blooming where God has planted you.
