Together in Christ: 'The Resurrection of Jesus Is Our Assurance' — John 14:19-20
Thursday, October 17, 2024
[Jesus assured his disciples,] "Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live. When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you."
— John 14:19-20 NLT
Key Thought...
How can you know a product will live up to its advertised claims? For years, that assurance for those in the U.S. was The Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. How can we know God will never abandon, leave, or forsake us? Jesus' resurrection and the empty tomb are God's seal of certainty!
Since God did not abandon Jesus in the Lord's death and burial, as evidenced by His resurrection, [1] then we can be sure that God will never abandon us! [2] Since God did not hold anything back from us to save us, now that we have been saved, the resurrected Jesus is our assurance that God will do more for us than we could ever dream. [3] God anchored our hope in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus — the saving work of God that is proclaimed in the Good News and that we shared with Jesus through faith as we were baptized [4] and as we share in the Lord's Supper. [5] The resurrection of Jesus is our assurance that nothing can separate us from God's love! [6] Our relationship with God — as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — is one thing we can know is certain, permanent, and guaranteed, and He has given us the Holy Spirit as evidence of that guarantee! Today's Prayer
Almighty God, I thank You for Your salvation based on Your grace and demonstrated in Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. I am so thankful that You place Your assurance within me through the indwelling grace of the Holy Spirit. Thank You! Praise You! I adore You! Amen.
