14. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.15. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.1 Thessalonians 4:14-17 Paul explains that all the faithful departed will rise from death first when Christ returns. And those who are alive will meet Christ in the air. Both to be with the Lord for all eternity. Paul says comfort each other with these words. Christ keeps His promises, and He will reward His followers, for this was the reason for Him coming. When a sinner dies, we mourn for them. When a believer dies, we are sad, but they are with the Lord. There was nothing peaceful in Christ's death. But when our time comes, we have peace and assurance that as Christ rose from death, so shall we. But the living must wait for all who have gone before. For at the sound of the trumpet, Christ's return will not be a secret nor silent. But it will be a joyous occasion. Receiving the promised reward. A sure promise a sure reward for all those in Christ. Amen.
