12. Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13. Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear son:
14. In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15. Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
Colossians 1:12-15
Paul packs a lot of information in these four verses.
The Almighty Father is He who initiates the plan of the ages. Paul gives thanks to God who made us partakers of Christ's salvation by inheritance, not by our works.
Christ delivered us from Satan's control. He alone removed us from darkness into the kingdom of light. This word translated means, removed from one place to another. Christ removed us from darkness and judgment and made a place for us in His kingdom. Spurgeon said, "we are still tempted by Satan, but we are not under his power; we have to fight with him, but we are not his slaves. He is not our king; he has no rights over us; we do not obey him; we will not listen to his temptations."
Redemption comes only through Christ's blood. This blood provides forgiveness, opening heavens doors.
Christ is the image of God in the form of man. He made all things. He was before anything was made. He was the first man raised from death never to die again. And He has given that gift to His followers. Amen.
