HELENE'S AFTERMATH: The storm surge, wind damage, and inland flooding from Hurricane Helene have been catastrophic.
Across the country, at least 120 people have died as a result of the storm. In hard-hit Buncombe County, North Carolina, which encompasses Asheville, at least 600 people remain unaccounted for, according to county officials.
Authorities are now going door-to-door to check on those who have been reported missing as shelters hit capacity.
