13. But now in Christ Jesus ye who were sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
14. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
15. Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
16. And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby.
Ephesians 2:13-16
Paul spoke to people about the terror of being without Christ. Being without spiritual blessings, light, peace, rest, safety, or hope. No King, not Priest, no Prophet.
To Jew and Gentile, Spurgeon wrote, "If this be you, we need not talk of the fires of hell. Yet, know you are in such a desperate state! What terrible evils lie clustered thick within these two words, Without Christ.
Christ on the cross made sinful men by His blood accepted by God. We have peace with God because of Christ. He did not make peace with God for us. He is our peace.
The wall of separation was the law. The law could not save anyone, and no man kept the law but Christ. But Jew and Gentile are justified in Christ through the cross.
Jew and Gentile are saved by the same gospel, and they have the same walk, the same transformation from sinner to saint, and the same access to God. One is not better or closer than the other. Amen.
