1. When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
2. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.
3. The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.
4. Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.
5. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
Psalm 126:1-5
The Psalmist sings about the Lord bringing back the captives of Jerusalem. How happy they were returning. Even the ungodly noticed that it was the Lord's doing.
This can be seen in the salvation of Christ. How happy we were to be relieved of our sin. Those around us noticed that we had been changed.
So that we could say without a doubt that Christ has redeemed us and we are glad.
As the rain in a barren desert causes a flash flood. So the Spirit to a redeemed soul floods in and transforms a captive
sinner into a child of God.
Those who plant their faith in Christ with tears of sorrow for their sins. Shall with eternal joy reap the promise of Christ's eternal life. Amen.
