15. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
16. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
17. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
18. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:15-18
Paul explains that as Moses covered his face when he came down from the mountain with the tablets of the law. So are the hearts covered with blindness when the books of Moses are read in the congregation. Moses covered his face not because the people were afraid but because the glory was diminishing from his face. This is a picture of the glory of the old covenant passing and the enduring eternal glory of Christ revealed in the new covenant.
Now, where the Lord is there is freedom from Satan, sin, and spiritual death. Christ makes atonement for all who will receive. Those who seek Christ will have the vail removed, and the truth will set them free.
All believers are looking into God's mirror, and we are changing daily into the image of Christ. By the working of the Spirit. This comes from spending time in His word and seeking fellowship with Him. A relationship is two-way.
Now, we do not see this change all at once, but it is a transformation from the old nature that will bring spiritual death. To the new man in Christ, which Christ will reward with life eternal. Amen.
