14. Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.15. But we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:16. To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?17. For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. 2 Corinthians 2:14-17 Paul explains to the Corinthians that he follows Christ as his undefeated Lord who leads His followers in victory against all powers of darkness and evil. Through Christ, we are a sweet aroma to God, as incense or the smell of the burnt offering. The redeemed smell of everlasting life and the same smell to those who refuse Christ is to them the smell of death and eternal destruction. Someone must preach Christ, and those should consult God about His will and study and meditate in God's word. Paul explains he is preaching the sincere word of God with honesty. Not as some who were preaching a corrupt gospel. This is interpreted as watered down like someone selling a beverage, and they water it down, diluting it, to make more profit. Paul's meaning is that when he is preaching the Gospel of Christ, he is aware that Christ is first to hear. Every word is spoken in the sight of God. Amen.
