1. Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? 2. He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. 3. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.4. In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. 5. He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.Psalm 15:1-5 The psalmist question is, who can come before God into His presence? Who may dwell with God in His holy place as a permanent resident. There is a list of how one would have to present themselves. Yet in our hearts, we all know we have fallen short. The old covenant gave atonement through a sacrifice of blood. And was based on obedience. The disobedient could not expect to come into God's presence. The new covenant, with Christ's sacrifice, has paid the debt owed for sin. His blood is the finished work, and no other sacrifice is accepted. There is nothing we can add to it. You can not read enough or go to church enough or win souls or pray enough. Those who believe this put Christ to the side and believe they can earn their way to the reward by works. But none will enter because our works do not make us clean from our sin. Only faith in Christ, He is the Savior, He completed the task. All our iniquities were placed on Him. And we are obedient because we love Him because He died for us. Now, for any to continue in sin is to frustrate God's plan. And be excluded from His presence and shut out from His holy mountain. But those that reverence Christ as Savior, covered in His righteousness, will be eternal guests in His presence enjoying the reward He prepared for them. Amen.
