1. Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD
2. LORD, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
3. If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
4. But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
5. I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
Psalm 130:1-5
The psalmist cries out from the depths of guilt for sin against God.
Many have drowned in this guilt.
There is no help but from Christ. For He paid the price in His death. And with Him is forgiveness.
He who formed the ears is a hearing God.
No man could ever bear the charge of judgment for the smallest transgression.
Therefore, God has laid the iniquity of all on the Son. We shall reverence the Lord for He has removed our guilt. In its place, we have received eternal life by grace. Those who cry out in honesty shall not wait long for their redemption.
For our Lord is a way maker and a promise keeper.
All who hope in God's word will receive the promise. For it is impossible for God to lie. He is holy and faithful. Amen.
