1. Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.2. But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.3. For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.4. For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.5. They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men. Psalm 73:1-5 Here the psalmist speaks of a time when he was tempted. He has observed that the wicked prospered, while the righteous suffer afflictions. He begins to think that religion is vain and useless. And while he strives to do good, the wicked are rewarded. He becomes aware that he is on slippery ground and heading off the path that leads to life everlasting. Because he was envious of the ungodly. He comes to a more perfect understanding as he is instructed in the house of God. He sees that the ungodly are the ones on the slippery path. And in an instant they they are brought to destruction. Luke 16: 19-26 illustrates this point. And coming to his senses, he realized that God had been leading him in the right way. And when his time came God would receive him into the reward promised. Amen.
