1. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy mercies blot out my transgressions.
2. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Psalm 51:1-5
We have a lesson here. It is because of God's mercy and love that we are not consumed in our sins. His compassion fails not, and through Christ, our sins are blotted out of sight forever.
We need to be clean before God. Our sin has separated us from His fellowship.
We must own up to our sin and failure. We have done all in His sight. And if not dealt with, it will stick with us all the way to eternal punishment.
All have sinned and fallen short of the reward. Making it necessary for sinless Christ to come and pay the debt with His blood. This is God's love in action. Amen.
