20. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by law is the knowledge of sin.
21. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22. Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: there is no difference:
23. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24. Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Romans 3:20-24
There can be no person justified before God, seeing the commandments have declared them guilty. Being that all have sinned and fallen short of the reward. All except Christ the sinless God-man sent from the Father.
The commandments proved us guilty and the sentence is death, and eternal punishment.
The law discovers sin but can not justify the guilty.
Now to have right standing before God is impossible for men. To be righteous is to be in accord with divine law, free from guilt or sin.
Now Paul is revealing that there is no difference between Jew or Gentiles who are covered in Christ's righteousness.
For God has justified all who have been redeemed by Christ.
The grace we receive from Christ Jesus is the unmerited favor of God, pardon, and forgiveness of sin. And His mercy is shown in that Jesus withholds the punishment for sin, seeing He paid the debt with His life and covered our sins in His blood. Amen. There is no Savior but Christ Jesus.
