How did ancient craftsmen create an iron pillar that has withstood the test of time with unparalleled purity? The Iron Pillar of Delhi, estimated to be at least 1,500 years old, stands as a testament to ancient metallurgical prowess. Boasting a rust-free surface and an astonishing purity of 99.72 percent iron, it has fascinated scientists and historians alike.
This exceptional artifact, unlike modern wrought iron which achieves a purity of 99.8 percent but includes manganese and sulfur, is free from such impurities.
Remarkably, the Iron Pillar was made at least 400 years before the technology of the ancient world could have produced it. The mystery of how ancient craftsmen achieved such purity and durability continues to baffle and intrigue modern scientists and historians.

The steel in that pillar is very valuable because it does not contain radioactive elements. Better watch out someone will steal it for scrap iron to make MRI machines.
