6. Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
7. Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.
8. I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
9. Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
10. Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
Psalm 85:6-10
The psalmist asked, will you revive us. All men are born in sin, the penalty is death. But the righteousness of Christ's justification is a rescue from the judgment. And brings a new heart a new nature and life eternal.
This is by the mercy of God, salvation, pardon, and forgiveness.
Christ received what we deserved, and we received the favor of God.
Christ by His death has made peace with God for our sins. So let us turn from sin and enjoy God's grace. To continue in sin shows ungratefulness to Christ and His sacrifice.
All who reverence God can receive salvation. It can come from nowhere but from Christ the Son. Immanuel, God with us, Christ was here. Lived here died here for us.
The mercy of God is Christ. And Christ is the truth of God in the form of flesh.
The righteousness of God is the essential justice of God, which will not admit the pardon of a sinner without satisfaction. Christ has paid for all sin in His blood. There is no other payment that will be accepted. Christ is received by faith and yields peace of mind that we are children of the most high God. Amen.
