16. Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
17. For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
18. Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.
19. He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.
20. Man that is in honour and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
Psalm 49:16-20
The psalmist gives a warning to the ungodly. Who were poor but now have wealth and use it for everything that is wicked.
The people of God are not to fear this kind. For the Lord has marked their day. Death comes to us all, and notice how it says they shall descend, the righteous shall ascend, but the ungodly will enter hell where there are no titles, or honor, or respect.
While they lived, they had no care for their souls, and in death, they would never see Christ the Light of the world.
A wicked man without Christ has no understanding of spiritual things. Nothing of the Gospel or salvation, his soul never knew true happiness. And the beasts of the earth that die are better off than them.
Christ came to rescue sinners, and I am one, I believe in Christ the Son of God. Amen.
