27. The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.18. And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out that same hour.19. And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,29. And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city.Acts 16:17-20 Here is a young girl possessed by a spirit. Her masters used her to tell fortunes. She proclaims that these men show the way of salvation, which is of Christ and not by any other way. The best works of men are still filled with sin, and could never redeem a single soul. You can be the best person in the world, and without Christ, you would still earn hell. Christ is the only acceptable sacrifice for sin. And after several days of this, Paul, with the authority of Christ, demands the spirit come out of her. Now her masters seeing, her subdued, and seeing she can no longer be of use to them, they having no power against the Spirit of God, seek help, from the magistrates, to gain compensation for their loss. Money being their main concern and not their souls. Wise men plan for eternity while fools live day to day. Amen.
