Together in Christ: 'Not Too Important to Kneel and Serve!' — Galatians 6:3
Thursday, June 27, 2024
If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.
— Galatians 6:3 NLT
Key Thought
Jesus powerfully demonstrated the truth of our relationship verse for today:
After washing [his disciples'] feet, [Jesus] put on his robe again and sat down and asked, "Do you understand what I was doing? You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and you are right, because that's what I am. And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other's feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message. Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them." [1]
We are never too important, significant, or busy to help a brother or sister in need. It's that simple.
Is serving others hard? Sometimes.
Can it be a burden? Frequently.
Is it fun, stimulating, or exciting? Not until you see how Jesus can use your investment of His grace in others.
However, if Jesus kneeled to serve those about to betray, deny, and forsake Him, [2] how can we not kneel to help those in need around us? Let's not fool ourselves: We are not more important than Jesus! Let's take time to compassionately and lovingly serve others!

TODAY'S PRAYER
Lord Jesus, forgive me for my selfishness and for choosing to ignore the needs of those around me because I think my time is too precious to invest in blessing them. Open my eyes to the people You have placed in my path for me to serve, and I ask that the Holy Spirit help me as I seek to display the kindness and genuine compassion that Jesus demonstrated. Amen.
