29. Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.30. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?31. And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.32. The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:33. In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.Acts 8:29-33 Philip, obedient to the Spirit of God, joins the man who is reading Isaiah. God's word is powerful even to convert a sinner to Christ. Philip guides him into the relationship with Christ, seeing he had a desire to know the truth. The verse shows the meekness and innocence of Christ. The humiliation of being God, sent in the form of a man, to die a criminal's death so that we may live. That was Christ's mission, and He completed it in full. The generation in which Christ lived, the wickedness of the brutality of His murder, the accusations of Him uttering blasphemies, the whole word of God speaks of Christ, who they refused, and there are many in our generation doing the very same. If you do not have Christ, you have lost everything. Amen.
