Archaeologists in Crete recently uncovered a fascinating discovery atop Papoura Hill: a sprawling labyrinthine structure, stumbled upon during routine radar installation for an upcoming airport project. Dating back to 2000-1700 BC, just before the peak of the Minoan civilization’s early Palaeopalatial period, this find sheds light on the island’s ancient past.The structure itself is quite a sight: featuring 8 concentric stone rings leading to a central circular building, it spans an impressive 48 meters in diameter and covers around 1800 square meters. Archaeologists have identified four main zones within the labyrinth, notably Zones A and B, rich with animal bones suggesting significant human activity.
