1. Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD.
2. Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.
3. Let them be turned back for a reward of the shame that say, Aha, aha.
4. Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee. and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let l God be magnified.
5. But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying.
Psalm 70:1-5
The psalmist in this song prays for deliverance. He seeks no one else but God. This is a spiritual act he is in search of.
Satan, the enemy of God, and His people seeks who he may destroy spiritually. If he destroyed us here and we were received by Christ, he failed.
This prayer is to reverse his plans, for only the plans of Satan desire the hurt of God's creations.
The psalmist's mind is not on worldly comfort but in the eternal salvation of Christ. All who have received it will lift up Christ's name.
We are in the same condition as the psalmist. We are spiritually poor and needy in spiritual gifts. Salvation is something not to be put off but received with haste because who knows when the last second comes.
Are sins a great and many but Christ is a greater Savior, He has delivered many from Satan. And when asked, He will come quickly. Amen.
