20. And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:21. To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil the threescore and ten years.22. Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,23. Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judea. Who is there among you of all people? The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.2 Chronicles 36: 20-23 In these words are sound treasure. The people of God following their king commit abominations in the eyes of God. Placing His commandments behind them. And judgment comes from the Almighty, and Judea is conquered and taken to Babylon for 70 years. Making servants of the people of God. This is a picture of us and our distance from God, and His laws, and how we are spiritual captives of Satan. We no longer seek Gods ways but suffer under the burden of sin. God Almighty has no equal and He can and will use who ever He wants to bring about His will. Cyrus is a heathen king familiar to the writings of the prophets. God has set him in motion to bring the captives out of Babylon and return them to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple that was destroyed. This was spoken of by the word of the Lord in Jeremiah 50. This is also recorded in historical documents. For those who doubt the Bible being inspired by God. What man can write such things and be accurate. Such things as God's people leaving Egypt or Babylon. The Bible is instruction to eternal life, or eternal destruction, it is up to each individual to choose. Christ has given us free access to heaven. Every wise person will take advantage. Amen.
