54. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.55. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56. The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.58. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.1 Corinthians 15:54-58 Paul is teaching that Christ's death has given us victory over death. We are pardoned from the punishment of sin by Christ's blood. And this body shall perish, but we shall be renewed and given a body that shall last forever. Christ has defeated Satan sin and death. Isaiah 25:8 states this before Christ ever came to us. We have nothing to fear for absence from the body is presence with our Lord. The payment for sin is death, and Christ paid it for us. Without Christ, judgment is certain. But all of Christ's people are assured of eternal life through Christ's victory on the cross. Keep stedfast in the faith. No matter what you see or hear, Christ is faithful to keep His promise. Do not shy away from the daily work of the Lord. And nothing you do for Christ will be in vain. His rewards are sure. Amen.
