18. Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
19. To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
20. Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.
21. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
22. Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
Psalm 33:18-22
God truly sees those that reverence Him, who turn from evil, that are careful not to offend Him, who delight to serve and worship Him. Such He provides for and protects. These are covered in mercy through Christ the Lord, their pardon, and the promise of eternal life is sure. The proof is the regeneration of their spirit and the new life they now live.
They are now guaranteed life eternal free from the debt to sin. They are fed with the word of God and experience no spiritual famine.
The soul waits for the Lord to return to its creator. This is the hope of Christ's church. Christ is a help in every trouble, never abandoning us.
In this, we can rejoice because we can trust the faithful Shepherd who gave His life that we may live. Amen.
