1. How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? How long wilt thou hide thy face for me?
2. How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
3. Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, least I sleep sleep of death;
4. Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
5. But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
Psalm 13:1-5
The psalmist seeks the Lord, when his sin has separated him from God. He longs for the fellowship they had together, and the security he had under the Lord's protection.
The sorrow in his heart, sin having rob him of his joy and comfort. His enemy, our enemy Satan doing his best to remove the Lord's people off the narrow path, and replace it with guilt and confusion.
Yet he is confident in the Lord's forgiveness the eyes the window to the soul shall not be dimmed in death.
For his Lord God Christ the Son is known to him. Satan shall never have dominion over Christ's people or His kingdom. Devils and demon rejoice in what they believe is victory. When we stray out of the way.
But it is not how hard we cling to Christ the Savior, but what a strong hand He has on us, His saving grace never fails, His love is everlasting. Never leaving nor forsaking us. We are secured by His blood.
Therefore we shall rejoice in His salvation, Christ is our victorious King. Amen.
