27. Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.28. Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. 29. The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.30. Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.31. Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.John 12:27-31 Jesus is troubled by the hardness and unbelief of the Jews, and their rejection of Him. And how He would be glorified by the conversion of the Gentile nations. Christ determined to do His Father's will, sets His mind on why He came. The Father's voice is heard glorifying Christ the Son. And the people heard but were unable to understand because their hearts were not with Christ. And He tells them the voice was for their benefit that they might believe in Him. Now Christ being God knows the end of a matter before it begins. And He tells of judgment coming to this world. First the Jews having rejected Him will be reproved and condemned for rejecting Christ, and murdering Him on the cross. Second the believers Jews and Gentiles shall be separated from those set apart for destruction. Third Satan is defeated at the cross, sin, Satan, and death have been overcome. The converted sinner is redeemed, Christ having now assumed all power and authority, will at the end cast the devil and his followers into the place prepared for them. And shall receive His followers into their everlasting reward. Amen.
