19. Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD:20. This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter. 21. I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.22. The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.23. This is the LORD'S doing it is marvellous in our eyes.Psalm 118:19-23 Here, the psalmist reveals Christ as the one requiring the gates of heaven to be opened to Him by His blood, He has obtained redemption for His people. Now a gate keeps something in, or something out. This gate of the Lord is Christ the Son of God, who alone is the door the church may enter in, by imputing His Righteousness on His people, paying their debt to sin with His blood that a doomed sinner may be pardoned. As all the redeemed will do, they can not help but praise Christ for securing access to the reward of eternal life. A corner stone is the first stone placed in a wall. All other stones will be set in reference to this stone. Christ is our foundation. There is no other. We are to walk in His steps and take on His personality. None can fail who walk in fellowship with Christ. This is Christ's doing in obedience to the Almighty, and it is His wisdom and power, and love, grace, and mercy, in selecting us the stones out of a common quarry, and transforming us into living stones built on His foundation, and it is marvelous to witness, for the stone Christ that was rejected became the Chief Stone. Amen.
