Back in the 1800s Friedrich Nietzsche observed that a lot of "Philosophers" were highly underwhelming individuals, and described them as philosophical workers, essentially secretaries who tabulate and discuss philosophers' ideas, but without brining anything new to it, not shining with their own light. By the same token, a lot of the people who are currently referred to as "scientists" are not really that, they are scientific workers who work doggedly to reach findings that they have been assigned to find. Very people have the character and/or financial independence to be Galileo, and stand up in opposition to official doctrine; the situation we are looking at today is as if the Catholic Church of the 17th century had hired a legion of "astronomers" to find that the Ptolemaic model of the solar system was correct.
