6. For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
7. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
8. For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.
9. But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10. All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous and shall be exalted.
Psalm 75:6-10
The psalmist speaks of men in authority and power, it is God who has placed then in this position, and the majority are on a slippery slope of destruction. As in Exodus 9:16, it says God raised Pharaoh up in his position, that God would show His power He being the true God, and Pharaoh claiming to be a god.
God is the final word, there is none who can resist and prosper, His power is infinite.
Here is the authority of Christ to separate the wicked from the redeemed. There is judgment poured out on sinners according to their sins and to turn them through the Gospel into children of God. But the bottom of the cup of judgment is the dregs which the wicked unrepentant and abominable, shall wring out and drink and this is hell's fire.
This is Christ speaking, after judgment of the wicked, He will praise the God of Jacob His Father.
For Christ has cut off the strength of all those ruled by Satan, and lifted up and exalted the strength of the saints of God. Amen.
