7. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
8. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
9. Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.
10. Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.
11. God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.
Psalm 62:7-11
Christ is God and the author of salvation. It is sure, and is everlasting. Christ is the glory of our salvation, the foundation of our strength, our refuge, and security, our righteousness. We boast in God our strength, for we are powerless without Him.
We can put our trust in Christ, the Word of God in flesh who dwelt among us. His mercy and pardon, His deliverance shall not fail, even in adversity Christ will not fail us. We can pour out our hearts before Him, for His blood and sacrifice has taken down the barrier between us and the throne of grace.
Worldly men are vanity filled with sin, vain thoughts, and affections. Men of rank and power thinking they are high above common men, but their status with God is the same having all sinned and fallen from grace, very much in need of Christ's salvation, but refusing the Son of the Living God. And as both high and low are weighed, they are lighter than nothing. Their vanity will be heavier.
To oppress and rob, there is no reward, if wealth increases, set not your heart on it, for it has no lasting value.
Be mindful of God it is He who lifts one up, and puts down another, for who can fight against His power. Amen.
