3. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.4. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?5. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter in the kingdom of God.6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit spirit.7. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.John 3:3-7 Nicodemus, according to the views of the nation, thought that when the Messiah came, all would share in the kingdom being descendants of Abraham. Jesus tells him that he must be born again in opposition to his first birth which was sinful, vile, polluted, carnel, and corrupt, being conceived in sin and shapen in iniquity, and was a transgressor from the womb. Having no right to the kingdom of God. The born again experience is a regeneration of the spirit, bringing a new life to a soul that is dead, a renewal in heart and mind has partaken in Christ, and is new in principle, behavior, conversation, being born new from above. This is a supernatural experience that comes from God, and man can not imitate it. This phrase born of water and Spirit meaning the Holy Spirit, and not water baptism. The work of the Holy Ghost is He convinces of sin, sanctifies, renews, works faith, and grace, and continues the work unto perfection. Without this work no one can enter the kingdom. Nor can they pass from death to life everlasting. That which is born is flesh, it is carnal and corrupt and cannot discern the things of God or spiritual things. The natural man is unfit for God's kingdom. The new birth is necessary to change a soul into a spiritual being seeking the things of God, the eternal things and not the temporary things of this world which will be destroyed. That which is born of the Spirit is sanctified by the Spirit unto Salvation by Christ. Becoming an heir of God adopted children by God's grace, now being in God's family. The mind being renewed, finds the word of God pleasing and true, and used for instruction in righteousness the carnal mind cannot receive the word nor understand it, and it is foolishness to them, but to those born again the word is Life.
