1. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Psalm 51:1-5
The psalmist under the burden of sin does not run away from God but cast himself down at the mercy of God. The mercies of God can not be numbered. And it is because God is merciful that we have forgiveness of sin.
Be aware that sin has consequences even when it is forgiven.
It is the blood of Christ that covers sin there is no other acceptable sacrifice.
Sin must be confessed to God in whose eyes it cannot be hidden. All sin is against God, yet it can affect many others.
We are born in sin, we need no instruction, we need Christ's message in the Gospel, we need Christ for without Him we will never have victory over Satan. We will never know forgiveness and pardon, only the new man in Christ knows that to have victory over sin we must stay close to the Shepherd of our souls. Amen.
