Senate Bill 418, the 2022 election security law enacted in New Hampshire to punish identity fraud and greatly reduce the risk of voter fraud is now in place in New Hampshire. Prior to the enactment of this law, New Hampshire voters who registered on Election Day could have their votes counted without having to provide photo identification. Instead, voters who lacked qualifying forms of identification could attest to their identity via a sworn statement. According to the New Hampshire Legislature, “allowing unverified votes to count in an election enables the corruption of New Hampshire’s electoral process.” In past years, there have allegations that peoples from the nearby Boston metropolitan area had voted in the New Hampshire Presidential primary held every four years as the "first in the nation" presidential primary. So New Hampshire put serious controls on existing voter ID rules, to increase the penalties for out of state or other ineligible people who attempt to vote or actually succeed in casting a ballot. People convicted of voter fraud from 2024 going forward do so at the risk of being convicted of a Class B felony and being fined $5,000. The New Hampshire (SB418) criminal statutes are likely the toughest in the nation at present.New Hampshire’s new provisional ballot law also has officially taken effect. This means that first-time voters who don’t show proper identification and proof of residency at the polls will have to sign a sworn affidavit and have their photo taken. These voters will then be given an “Affidavit Voter Package” containing a special provisional ballot and details on how to submit identity documents to the Secretary of State. If a voter doesn’t provide the missing identification documents within seven days, their ballot will be thrown out and their vote removed from the totals. Due to these laws, the New Hampshire presidential primary will be the "cleanest" among the state primaries scheduled over the next few months by raising the penalties and sharpening the requirements to defeat would be fraudulent voters.
