Unstoppable! 'Begin Where They Are' — Acts 8:34-35
Sunday, May 5, 2024
The eunuch asked Philip, "Tell me, was the prophet talking about himself or someone else?" So beginning with this same Scripture, Philip told him the Good News about Jesus.
— Acts 8:34-35 NLT
Key Thought
Philip began with the questions the Ethiopian had about the passage of Scripture he was reading from Isaiah 53 and used that starting point to teach him about Jesus. If we are going to lead others to Christ, we must begin where they are and with the questions they have and connect them with the Good News about Jesus. We don't need a program, a method, a new series of videos, or a novel strategy. We need to know Jesus and share his story in a way that connects with the longings of others.
TODAY'S PRAYER
O Father, help me to become a better listener to the questions in people's hearts. I trust that the Holy Spirit will help me have words at the proper moment to share the Good News of Jesus effectively. I commit to prepare myself to share my reason for finding my hope in Christ. However, dear Father, I need your help so that I can be a more effective listener for the heart-cry of people who need to know your Son. I pray in his name. Amen.
