Today, May 2nd, is designated as the National Day of Prayer. In case you aren’t familiar with the National Day of Prayer, a quick history lesson:
The National Day of Prayer is an annual day of observance designated by the United States Congress and held on the first Thursday of May, when people are asked "to turn to God in prayer and meditation". The president signs a proclamation each year, encouraging all Americans to pray on this day. It actually dates back to 1775, before America was even a country, when the Continental Congress issued a proclamation recommending "a day of publick humiliation, fasting, and prayer" be observed by the "English Colonies" on Thursday, July 20, 1775.
