CIA whistleblower James Erdman III argued that CIA resistance delayed DNI Tulsi Gabbard's withdrawal of two Biden-era intelligence assessments on directed energy attacks.
Erdman said Gabbard had to work "to the very end of her time as DNI" to get the retractions approved, adding they "could have happened last fall." Asked which agency pushed back the hardest, he replied, "CIA." Erdman also alleged that some CIA analysts "actively covered up this issue," saying "there was a lot to lose.”

CIA whistleblower James Erdman III praised DNI Tulsi Gabbard for carrying out the intelligence community reforms President Trump tasked her with, despite significant resistance from within the intelligence community as well as from people "circling around the White House" and the National Security Council.

Former CIA Operations Officer James Erdman III argued the CIA did not fully cooperate with DNI Tulsi Gabbard's investigations, describing the agency's tactics as "bureaucratic guerrilla warfare" designed to slow the process through procedural delays.

CIA Whistleblower James Erdman III said the CIA tried to stop him from complying with a Senate subpoena before his testimony on the origins of COVID-19.
Erdman said CIA's Office of General Counsel called him at 7:30 p.m. the night before the hearing and instructed him "not [to] appear at the hearing." His attorney challenged the agency, asking what law or regulation allowed it to "obstruct a Senate subpoena."
After he testified, Erdman said the CIA labeled his testimony "dishonest political theater" because "they simply didn't want what they knew Senator Paul was digging into out in public.”
